Pearl's Safe Home Support Worker
Temporary (1 year position) Part-time Position at 16-20 hours per week with on-call hours

Main Function: To provide support services to women with or without children fleeing domestic violence, at risk of violence or at risk of homelessness. Provide crisis call support, advocacy, referrals, screening and orientation from a feminist perspective using a non-judgmental approach. To support and uphold the values implied by the Howe Sound Women's Centre Society Mission Statement.

Location: Pemberton and surrounding communities

- A passion to make a difference in the lives of women and children in our communities.
- Two years post-secondary education in social/human services or a related discipline and/or equivalent work experience.
- Current Basic First Aid Certification (OFA Level 1 or equivalent).
- Reliable vehicle and a valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.

Skills and Attributes:
- An understanding of systemic discrimination against women and the dynamics of violence against women and their children is an asset.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
- Ability to work both independently from a remote location or home office while being part of a collaborative team working to serve the needs of the women and children accessing services.
- Able to work under pressure with women experiencing crisis; varying levels of mental wellness; homelessness; and substance use difficulties.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and problem solving skills.
- Collaboration and knowledge of other service providers in the area.
- Crisis prevention, intervention and conflict resolution skills.
- Flexible and adaptable.
